Security System
2002 – present
Wood, cigar boxes, twigs, cane tips, cardboard, paint, LED modules and hardware
Variable dimensions

An unlimited network of roughly simulated cameras, motion-sensors, intercom devices, loudspeakers and control consoles gain what credibility they may have as audio/visual machines from blinking light-emitting diodes. In this they are just like the “real” fake security camera at the Galveston Art Center that inspired them. A limitless edition of sort-of art multiples, the piece expands as I make and distribute more of its various elements over time and space. It’s first ten elements, all cameras, were awarded as trophies for the Cinematexas International Competition – innocently installed in the home offices of filmmakers around the world.
